Our own David Hawkins is a great sailing advisor for the GBR British Blind Racing Team and took part in 2017 World Blind Sailing Championships.

Having worked for Barton Marine for years, Dave is a strong support in the production department and an expert on assembly functions for Barton products. Dave is an active sailor, having sailed and raced all his life.

A true inspiration, Dave had his leg amputated below the knee a few years ago, but this has not stopped him enjoying his passion for sailing. Since the accident he has been able to continue his love for the sport through Paralympic sailing. Dave’s good friend, Lucy Hodges, who works with blind sailors, introduced him to the GBR Blind Sailing teams and he was instantly keen to get involved and help them experience this great sport!

Dave helps to create the best results for the team, helping GBR to broaden its sailing skills and tactics, resulting in two wins at the world finals in the USA - defending their title and bringing home the trophy once again for the 2017 World Championships!
