For the third consecutive year, Barton Marine is proud to support RBYC Cadet Week with a donation of raffle prizes for the club’s fundraising efforts, which take place on Saturday 19 August.
All 75 cadets participating this year will receive a special piece of Barton Marine rigging equipment for use on their dinghies. The Cadet Week is a great initiative, organised by Royal Burnham Yacht Club who pride themselves on making the week fun for the whole family, including around 70 children in attendance each year. The week is jam-packed, including racing, treasure hunts, team challenges, an off water games afternoon, fancy dress competition, and even a ‘Cadet Week’s Got Talent’ – all followed by a formal prize-giving dinner.
Not exclusive to RBYC members, the Cadet Week also welcomes non-members from visiting clubs. The programme aims to provide a general introduction to the sport, whereby youngsters will become 'sailors for life', something Barton also values very highly! Much more importantly, the overall goal is really to ensure that everyone enjoys the experience and embraces the social side of sailing as well as the on-water activities – including the parents!
Founded in 1895 and receiving Royal Patronage in December 1927, the Royal Burnham Yacht Club is at the heart of sailing and is the perfect host for events such as this one. We are delighted to be a part of the Cadet Week and wish all the best of luck to everyone taking part!
