BARTON BOOMSTRUT ON 'EUROPEAN YACHT OF THE YEAR'

We are proud that the Barton Boomstrut is part of the standard specification on the Sun Fast 3200, which was recently named "European Yacht of the Year 2008".

Providing fast response and a near constant force, the Boomstrut effortlessly supports the boom so that it will never accidentally fall onto its deck. The Boomstrut's two glass fibre rods support the boom at all times, preventing the boom from lifting or falling in light downwind conditions and providing exceptional stability and control upwind.

The Sun Fast 3200 is Jeanneau's brand new rising star. After winning the prize for innovation in 2007, awarded by the German magazine Segeln, the Jeanneau race boat now has been named "European Yacht of the Year 2008" by a jury of European journalists!

Congratulations to Jeanneau in receiving the honour on 19th January 2008 at the largest European boat show, in Düsseldorf, Germany. Journalists from 11 European magazines voted the Sun Fast 3200 "European Yacht of the Year" in the category of sailboats over 10 metres.

Conceived by Andrieu Yacht Design, the Sun Fast 3200 is the product of an original, innovative design.

This innovative concept has already seen tremendous commercial success in Europe. Case in point, more than 15 Sun Fast 3200s have already been ordered for the next Transquadra ocean race.

THE FUEL WHISTLE - FILL UP WITH EASE

The Fuel Whistle™ is a unique device that can help prevent accidental fuel spillage when re-fuelling boats. Available in the USA, the Fuel Whistle will be introduced to the European market by the recently appointed sole European distributor, Barton Marine.

Created to make the re-fuelling process easier and more efficient, the Fuel Whistle lets the boat owner know when to stop re-fuelling by making a ‘whistling’ sound throughout re-fuelling, as air is displaced out of the breather pipe. To inform the boat owner that the tank is approaching full, the sound changes to a ‘warble’ before stopping when the tank is full.

With the Fuel Whistle the boat owner will know when to stop re-fuelling before the tank is full, which reduces the chance of full spillage and fuel wastage as well as reduce the amount of fuel inadvertently spilled into the marine ecosystem.

Any boat with a 16 mm (5/8”) vent line can be fitted with a Fuel Whistle. At just 5cm (2”) in length and width when installed the device is unobtrusive. It is simple to install and is fitted in line into the breather pipe. The fuel vent line is cut and the Fuel Whistle is inserted into the vent line, so that the arrows on the device are facing upwards. Two screws can be inserted into the moulded mounting ears of the device to keep the device positioned firmly in the correct direction.

The Fuel Whistle is priced at £11.05 excluding VAT (RRP).

BARTON LAUNCHES NEW CLUTCH AT METS 2007 (13th - 15th November) Stand 01.240

One of the UK's leading deck hardware manufacturers, Barton Marine is launching its new DO550 Clutch for controlling halyards up to 12 mm at METS 2007. Barton's new single rope clutch design means exceptional strength and ease of operation.

Using high quality materials that withstand the harsh marine environment, the clutch is extremely durable and impact resistant, with a maximum holding power of up to 550 kg. The high grade plastic components coupled with aluminium cams and bases in the 'Spectro' anodised finish that is featured on many Barton products ensure a strong yet lightweight product.

Operating the clutch is easy thanks to the strong, easy to hold handle, which makes opening and closing the clutch mechanism simple and precise. The design also allows the lines to be adjusted with minimal slippage when in the closed, locked position.

Yacht maintenance was also considered during the design of the Clutch. The stainless steel rope fairleads at the entry and exit points help prevent wear to the lines and the clutch. In addition, the bolt-together construction makes it easier for checking the parts during maintenance.

The removable insert panel at the top of the clutch's handle allows coloured, labelled inserts to be easily added and replaced dependent on the function of the unit. Inserts include a range of functions such as 'Genoa', 'Main', and 'Spinnaker Halyard', which are available as an optional extra in either cruising or racing specific packs.

The DO550 Clutch is priced at £38.00 excluding VAT (RRP).

For more information about the new DO550 Clutch, please visit the Barton Marine stand (01.240) at METS 2007.

NEW PACKAGING FOR THE WINCHER

We've introduced a new carded packaging (with fitting instructions on the reverse) for the Wincher, making it easier to see the product before you buy.

The Wincher has become a popular piece of equipment onboard many sailing boats. This specially designed rubber moulding converts the standard winch to a self tailing winch, so that when the line is sheeted under load the coils climb up the drum and are then gripped by the underside of the rubber body. When the sail is trimmed, cleating is achieved simply by locking the line into the ribbed groove of the Wincher.
